I quote from ---http://www.nation.lk/2007/05/06/busi6.htm

Quote from Shilpa Sayura

“”
The lack of digital content in local languages is in fact a significant drawback that keeps a majority of Sri Lankans who cannot read and understand English from reaping the full benefits that Information Technology can bring.
The Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA), functioning under the Presidential Secretariat recognizes this and has, through its e-Society Development Initiative (e-SDI) grants programme, sought to encourage the development of content in local languages.
Unquote

When Sinhala is not compatible across all platforms how can you do content development in Sinhala.

Even the Unicode Consortium has agreed that there is an error in ICTA Sinhala Solution.

http://www.unicode.org/review/pr-96.html
Quote
...to make matters worse, it's possible to misapply format characters such that users can create strings that look the same but actually contain different characters, which can create security problems (see UTR# 36: Unicode Security Considerations).

I have published the Solution in ISBN955-98975-0-0

We have wonderful solutions. Somebody thinks introducing something called 'Silpa Sayura' in 20 so called Nenasalas can improve the passing percentage at G.C. E. (O/L).

How many persons a Nenasala serves? Cannot be more than 25-50. So 20 Nenasalas mean 50 x 20 = 1,000 users. So even if we assume 100% efficiency (and also 100% of the Nenasala users are GCG O/L students - which will definitely be not the case) it will solve the problem only for 1,000 students. Is this a big deal? What about the millions of the rest?

These type of projects are just 'sobana weda' of ICTA. They have no real impact on the society. They are only good for people like Prof. V. K. Samaranayake to earn fat salaries from the tax payers money.

I remember something back Prof. V. K. Samaranayake introduced something called e-money order. May I know how many people today actually use this system? At how many post offices this system is available? Can somebody please educate me?

One among many of the popular reasons for starting the war is the district quota system imposed for selection to state universities. But after two decades of conflict a paradoxical situation exists, where the students of North East have become the major beneficiaries of the system.
