As other good professions, IT profession also has a good demand today even here in Sri Lanka and IT professionals earn much compare to the other professions.

IT is a very vast area having spreaded over many categories and various types of jobs we can find such as Software Engineers, Database administrator, System Engineers, System Analysts, Business Analysts, Architects, data entry operators, Network Administrators and many more. So there is a good probability for students to ends up with one possible category.

Sri Lanka earns a considerable foreign income from this industry and year by year the amount getting bigger.

Language barrier is one thing. I am not saying the people who are not good in english are unable to learn IT but it seems english play a big role today in the world. So people who are very good in english, it is easy to climb high very fast in the industry and when it come to the IT industry without english it is very hard to stay there.

As we know most of the students from rural areas are lack of proficiency in english. But they are very good in knowledge. So it is really very bad situation in sri lanka. Due to this students from rural areas may face some sort of difficulties for this subject.

IT is a very practical subject and it is required to apply the knowledge practically. Most of the A/L students tends to by heart subjects and face for the exams. The practical knowledge is very worth in IT.

Instructor’s knowledge is also play a big role because without any practical exposure in IT it is very hard to get the real strength in IT. IT should not be a series of lessons target for passing exams decide that it should give a robust foundation and good overall knowledge about the industry.
